Weekly Update from Mr. Veit

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Good afternoon! We hope this email finds you all healthy and well! We had a great first week welcoming back our 4th graders, and we look forward to next week as we will be continuing our phase-in with grade 5!

With Halloween just around the corner we would like to invite our students that will be in next week to dress up for the occasion! Group "A" students will have the opportunity to dress in costume, Halloween themed t-shirts, or orange and black on Tuesday, October 27th. Students in the "B" and "C" groups will have the same opportunity on Friday, October 30th. As always, please adhere to the Joyce Kilmer dress code (attached) when considering a Halloween costume that will be worn in school, and should your child not want to dress in costume, or wear Halloween themed apparel, they certainly do not have to.   Please DO NOT send in any treats, candy, or other items with your children to be distributed to students.

I would like to thank the grade 4 parents for their diligence in wearing masks and maintaining social distance during drop off and pick up this week! Thank you for setting the pace as we will have even more excited students and parents outside in the mornings next week as we welcome the grade 5 back to JK! We know this is an exciting day, and a great photo opportunity, so we appreciate you all allowing for this to happen in a safe and considerate manner! Attached again is the entry map indicating where classes should line up, and enter the building. Grade 5 will enter the building using the entrance nearest the main office. The homerooms are listed on the map, and there are spray painted markings indicating homerooms on the sidewalk outside the main office. These markings will guide the students as to where to line up in the morning. Teachers and staff will be outside to assist students beginning at 8:25 am each day.

Please be sure to fill out your child's health screening each morning that they are attending in person. This is a VERY important measure that assists us in preparing for each day. The screening is shared via Parent Square each morning. If anyone is having issues accessing it, please feel free to reach out to the main office for assistance.

We hope you all have a wonderful and safe fall weekend!

Be well,
Mr. Veit

And a message from Mrs. Citro:

As we continue to support the children's mental health in school, I wanted to send out this link entitled Helping Children Cope With Changes Resulting From COVID-19. This article offers great advice for helping your children while at home.

Also attached is our Growth Mindset quote for next week!
