Important Message from Mr. Veit

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It has been a pleasure seeing many of you, and especially the students this week at book pick up! The teachers have been thrilled to put live faces to the pixelated ones they have been seeing, and to actually speak to the students live using their vocal cords, and not through speakers!

A few points of information:

Please be advised that teachers will be recording the introductory and direct instruction portions of their Google meet lessons. All other question and answer, and teacher to student interaction will not be recorded. Should you wish to review a lesson with your child, please inquire with your child's teacher and the main office for access to a given lesson.

Beginning on Wednesday, September 23rd, and while we remain remote, all Wednesdays will operate on an early dismissal schedule. This is the schedule that was followed on the first day of school. as well as on September 9th, and September 11th. The early dismissal schedule and times have been attached in previous communications. The important things to remember, are that when following the early dismissal schedule, we are following the students' schedules true to how they appear in Genesis although the times are adjusted for early dismissal, and attendance for all students in grades 4-8 must be submitted by 8:30AM.   Typically, while all remote, elementary students have a seperate specials schedule for the morning, followed by their academic classes.  Middle school students, again while all remote, would follow the A/B schedule.  This will no longer be the case (ONLY) on Wednesdays, beginning September 23rd, as those will be early dismissal days and classes will run true to the Genesis schedule with the adjusted early dismissal times.  Being that Wednesdays will now be an early dismissal schedule, this will change the middle school's period based A (1-4) and B (5,6, 7-9) day schedule.  Please find the NEW A/B period schedule (through September) attached.

Finally, this year's Joyce Kilmer Back to School Night will take place for grades 4 - 8 on Thursday, September 24th. Typically, we would have 2 BTSNs, one for grades 4 and 5, and one for grades 6-8. Because we are virtual, we will be combining the events into one evening. Please expect information early next week that will include a document containing a schedule, and a set of links you will be following. The links will be first, to your child's teacher's informational video, and then to a Google Meet link for questions and answers. We are very excited to bring you a BTSN experience, but, just like all other endeavors since March, it will be different out of necessity, and we appreciate your understanding!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone, and we look forward to welcoming you all to BTSN next week!

Be well,
Mr. Veit
