Welcome to 4th Grade!!!
“I know of a state that's a perfect play land with white sandy beaches by the sea;
With fun-filled mountains, lakes and parks, and folks with hospitality;
With historic towns where battles were fought, and presidents have made their home;
It's called New Jersey, and I toast and tout it wherever I may roam.”
Do you recognize those lyrics? The person who wrote this song loves New Jersey as much as I do! My dream for this year is that you become as big of a fan of New Jersey as I am! This year in Social Studies we will be learning all about our wonderful state! The first unit we will be studying is the geography and regions of New Jersey. New Jersey has many beautiful attractions and places that draw people from all over! I have a feeling that after we finish this unit, you will be very proud to live in New Jersey!!
I enjoy writing very much! Some of my favorite topics to write about are my family, my pets, the Giants and school. I hope that you enjoy writing about topics that interest you as well! This year you are very lucky because you will be writing about topics that are important to you! Our first writing piece we will be working on this year is Narratives. We will be focusing on story elements, character traits and development, and trying to include figurative language! I cannot wait to read each one of your stories!!
Nick Allen definitely knows how to make his classmates laugh! Nick has always taken pride in launching questions that are guaranteed to distract teachers. He has even earned a reputation for making life difficult for his teachers! However, that all changes when he meets his new Language Arts teacher, Mrs. Granger. Our first whole class novel this year is Frindle by Andrew Clements, and I think you will really enjoy reading all of the interesting situations Nick gets himself into!
